Twenty acres of land, on the top of the hill at 8301 Mitchell Road, were donated to the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC) of the United Methodist Church by Bill and Joyce Russ, members of Centennial United Methodist Church in Rockford, IL. Ten additional acres were purchased under land contract from the Russes at a significantly lower than fair market price. Their intent was that the land be used specifically for building a church.

Roscoe United Methodist Church, established in 1836, is a growing church with membership over 1000 and is located at 10816 Main Street in Roscoe, IL. Roscoe UMC values the launching of multi-site churches as an effective means for reaching the unchurched for Jesus Christ and is committed to supporting and launching Hilltop Ministry Center.

Hilltop fosters a welcoming atmosphere, including a coffee shop/lounge area where people can come to relax, meet friends and hang out. We envision a “something-for-everyone” style, providing for children to be taking lessons or practicing sports while mom is taking yoga and dad is enjoying a latte. On Sundays, we provide meaningful worship at 9:30 am in a contemporary style with praise band and multi-media support.

Hilltop is a three-phase project.

  • Phase I includes the all-purpose, community building, complete with full-size gymnasium, relaxing coffee shop, a pre-school/day care center, offices and classrooms.
  • Phase II is constructing a more traditional sanctuary and additional administrative offices and classrooms. This phase will be constructed as the worshiping congregation at Hilltop continues to grow, inviting friends and family to worship and supporting Hilltop Ministries by giving their time and talents, through prayer, and through monetary giving joyfully.
  • Phase III is an addition to Phase II, to include a larger sanctuary able to accommodate for the expected growth of Hilltop’s community of believers.
