I Am Honored To Be Here
Twenty-six years ago, I was a member of Sycamore UMC sitting in worship when the Chairperson of the SPRC stood in front of us and informed us that my favorite pastor was leaving. This was one of the pastors who confirmed me. I used to mow the parsonage lawn when he went on vacation. I had a love for him that I couldn’t express until later when we were both colleagues, and I was at his retirement party. Even though that is a long time ago, I can still remember the feelings I had: anger, sadness, uncertainty, fear.
